As a former freelance writer, I stand as living proof of the transformative power of technology as I pack my pad and enter the cloud. To put it simply, since joining Solvate, I've become more efficient and productive through delegation. By digitizing documents, outsourcing my calendar and travel planning and enlisting the expertise of a Quickbooks ProAdvisor for help with my expenses, I actually have more time to pursue my writing, while working full-time at Solvate as an Account Manager, specializing in Talent acquisition and management.
After graduating from Vanderbilt in 2005, I had brief stints at Duke Law and on Capitol Hill, before coming to grips with the fact that adversarial climates weren't for me. Nevertheless, I ended up in New York City, the place I now call home. I quickly joined forces with the esteemed Dr. Leslie Gaines-Ross at global public relations firm Weber Shandwick, where I helped develop the newly formed reputation research department across three main functions: creating a host of new client offerings; building the firm’s thought leadership platform; and optimizing the firm's international corporate communications division’s capabilities. It was my first taste of the extreme fulfillment that comes from building something of value out of nothing. Full of new-found confidence in my skill set, I left Weber Shandwick to travel the world while recording it all in my journal, which I already find so endearingly antiquated.
I knew my step would be something big, and something meaningful. With the economy crumbling around me, I recognized the power of Solvate's model to not only revolutionize how parties project-manage from afar, but also provide America's most talented freelancers with meaningful work during an uncertain time. I now serve as the Talent liaison, matching specialists with projects that meet their passions, so that Solvate clients can experience the same increase in efficiency and productivity that I have.
